Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Shiraz from the McLaren Vale opens with a fragrant blueberry bouquet with a hint of boysenberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, smooth and elegant for Shiraz. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused blueberry with notes of mild oak and gentle plum. The finish is dry and its fine mild tannins do linger for quite a while. This Shiraz is very food friendly and drinking well now. I would pair it with a filet mignon in the near term. Enjoy - Ken

Winemaker Notes: The 2011 Block 6 exhibits excellent fruit weight and good structure with lower alcohols than we have seen for some years. Medium bodied, fruit driven style displaying dried thyme, eucalyptus leaf and plums. The tight, svelte tannin structure is enriched by fine, juicy, fruit sweetness through the mid-palate leading to a solid, yet smooth finish. Reflective of the cooler vintage, the 2011 Block 6 Shiraz will continue to display bright fruit and gain further complexity through cellaring. Serving Hints: We highly recommend decanting prior serving. This wine is ideally served at room temperature and goes well with hearty meat and game dishes.
