Wine Review: This opaque and very dark purple colored sweet red dessert wine from Spain is made from mostly Monastrell with a little bit of Cab and Syrah mixed in. It opens with a nose of fresh and plump raisins with notes of black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, rather sweet and jammy. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of plum and prune. The finish is sweet and its flavors linger for quite a while. The panel thought this would be nice splashed over some vanilla ice cream. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: Ninety percent ungrafted old-vine Monastrell with Syrah and Cabernet, partially fermented prior to gentle fortification retaining a moderate level of residual sugar. Aged in used barriques. Deeply fruity and structured, comparable to young vintage port albeit with a higher degree of red fruit complexity.
