Wine Review: Sometimes you just come across a wine that just stands out amongst its peers. This 2005 Zin blend from Dendor Patten does just that. This very dark purple wine opens with a very pleasant spicy black current like bouquet with hints of licorice. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is exceptionally well balanced and has some structure for a 2005. Perhaps that is due to the Carignane that is added to the blend. The flavor profile is one of delicious spicy boysenberries. This wine is a real success. The finish is quite dry with some soft tannins that linger for quite some time. This wine is also very food friendly and would pair nicely with my wife’s meatloaf or my beef bourguignon. Order a bottle or two and enjoy – Cheers, Ken
