Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Pinot Noir from Merry Edwards opens with a wet stone and strawberry bouquet with hints of violets, cinnamon, and cranberry tea. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with plus acidity. The mouthfeel is round, bold, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a stone dust and black plum blend with notes of white pepper, saline and blackberry tea. We also detected some hints of oak, and candied violets. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and mild dusty tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this Pinot with lamb souvlaki skewers. Enjoy – KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The Richaven Vineyard was planted in 2015 near the vineyard that is the foundation of our winery, Meredith Estate. Using the experience we have gained over many years from Meredith Estate, we have taken our winegrowing to the next level, and the resulting wines from Richaven have fine structure and compelling tannins. This inviting vintage offers aromas of warm fruit compote, dark plum, wet stone, leather, and black pepper. Velvety and concentrated on entry, this wine builds to a crescendo on the palate, offering black cherries, plum skin and dark chocolate. Silky tannins linger on the persistent finish. Duck is a classic match with Pinot Noir, and this rich recipe for pan-seared duck breast over sweet pea & bacon risotto will make a great pairing with our elegant and structured Richaven Pinot Noir.
